Introduction:
Today, I will answer one of the basic questions which is: What is Diabetes? A disease that occurs due to high blood sugar, also known as blood glucose, is called diabetes. Blood glucose is referred to as the primary source of energy that is obtained by the food you eat on an entire day. A hormone called Insulin is made up of pancreas, which helps the glucose derived from food to get into your cells that later can be used as energy. However, many times your body does not make the proper amount of Insulin or maybe not at all due to which the glucose stays in the blood and does not reach your body.
With time, an excessive amount of glucose in your blood can be dangerous and cause several health problems. Even though diabetes is cureless; yet, you can take precautionary measures to maintain your health.
Many times, people call diabetes “borderline diabetes” or “a touch of sugar.” These terms are associated with no diabetes or less diabetes; however, every case related to diabetes is serious.
Types of Diabetes:
There are certain types of diabetes listed as the following:
- Type 1 diabetes: in type 1 diabetes, your body stops making Insulin, and your immune system destroys the cells present in your pancreas by attacking them. This type of diabetes is found in kids and young adults; however, it can appear at any age. People having diabetes 1 need to take Insulin daily to stay alive.
- Type 2 diabetes: your body does not make or utilize enough Insulin in type 2 diabetes. Type 2 is the most common and is found in people of middle age and older ones.
- Gestational diabetes: this type of diabetes is found in women while being pregnant. However, it can turn into diabetes 2 shortly, and sometimes diabetes diagnosed during pregnancy is type 2.
